Southeast Denver Little League fields
After seeing the aerial shots of childhood diamonds posted by brian-k and Drew, I searched out mine. The patch of dirt near the bottom of the photo is the infield where I played 1st base for the Aeros (Instructional League, ages 8-9). When I was ten, I moved up to the Reds and played a little 3B on the Minor League field in the middle of the photo. Finally, during the halcyon summers of my eleventh and twelfth years, I played 1st base for the Cubs on the Major League Field at the top of the photo. That diamond is also the site of my only career pitching appearance. In one inning of relief I walked two and surrendered a home run that bounced off the top of the left field fence. It should’ve been caught.
