These are the first baseball fields that I ever played organized baseball on. They are at Tri-Township Park in Troy, Illinois, and they are still played on today. (Well, maybe not today.) The field on the right was pitching machine ball. Our coach knew just where to aim the ball - low and inside - and I was an offense juggernaut. On the left, is the first baseball field that I ever pitched on. I threw a fastball and a change-up and I was deadly accurate against opponents over 4-feet, 6-inches tall.
On the greatest day of my young life, I hit a home run to the parking lot, made a diving catch in right field and doubled off a runner who had strayed too far from 3rd base, and I ate three chilli dogs and 2 Dilly Bars at Dairy Queen after the game.
These have been fun to read. Who’s next?
